On day two of London Fashion Week Men’s, we had the pleasure of attending a joint showcase by Drifters LDN and Siyen UK, during which both brands gave a live presentation of their AW18 collections. Upon arrival, we were greeted with champagne and warm welcomes from Black PR.
Since their launch in 2015, we have been huge Drifters LDN enthusiasts, so we were eager to see their new “Inside Down, Upside Out” collection. We loved the collections deliberate emphasis on the “inside out” aesthetic. This highlighted that while things may be presented in the “wrong way”, they can still look original and creative. We could write pages about all the different pieces from the collection, but our favourite had to be the black sleeveless longline vest, marked by a back to front fit, with visible black stitches and an apparent cut down the middle. What a creative genius Latifah is for designing this piece!
Downstairs, Siyen Uk’s “I AM A MAN” collection was on display. Their collection was characterised by a monochrome colour scheme, which was simple, yet extremely effective. As they say, less is more. One piece that particularly stood out to us was a black and white jacket, which was covered in a transparent, layer of plastic.
The energy at Proud Gallery was highly contagious, with DJ Ctrl keeping everyone on their feet with an iconic DJ set. We shook a leg and enjoyed good vibes with some of our favourites, including Fashion Gurus Rene Harrison and Seyon Amosu alongside Mr Eazi’s stylist Mariam Duke.
The evening was a great success! Congratulations to both designers and our eyes are peeled for what else they have in store for us this year!
