Emmanuel Ojomo had the opportunity like no other. To watch a legend & a legend in the making and the first thing he could say was ’14th of May 2016 will go down as a moment to tell the grandkids.’
‘Now, before I start, if you are not aware of Kojey Radical, please stop reading this article for a moment and listen to 23Winters, because, this is one artist that cannot be simply described in words…..If you are reading this part, one can only assume you a) are familiar with Kojey Radical or b) do not like rules and that’s fine because rules suck anyway. Rules put you in boxes and I’m not sure there is a box big enough to fit Kojey Radical just yet.
I’ve had the pleasure of visually documenting a few Kojey Radical’s performances and this has allowed me to see that there truly is no limit to where an artist can go. Having sold out his own headline show, what better way to step it up than to support Wu-Tang Clan member, Ghostface Killah on his London leg of his European Tour at the Royal Festival Hall. Yes, Kojey Radical on the same bill as one of Wu-Tang Clan’s very own.’
It is a rare moment in both their lives. It sounds crazy but until now he has never seen a Kojey Radical Show
“Going to a Kojey Radical gig will always leave you satisfied. This is an artist that gives everything on the stage every time. Each song was performed with relentless passion and high energy. In between a few tracks, the East Londoner would simmer down and entertain the audience with a story. He took everyone on a journey and nobody wanted to get off this train.
Was fantastic to see Kojey bring on Zulu for the track ‘Preacher Preacher’, the vocals of Zulu are incomparable and send chills through anyone who listens.
There was a great moment where to the surprise of everyone, including his band, Kojey Radical decided to jump off stage and perform part of his song in the audience. This is classic Kojey, as you never know what’s next and we all loved it.
The lighting made for interest shots behind the lens. Strong blues and reds bounced everywhere, creating an awesome mood.
The crowd may have come to see Ghostface Killah, but, they left that night knowing exactly who Kojey Radical was and he made certain of that.
Kojey’s set ended with thunderous applause from the crowd as a new royal in the scene bowed to those he had just entertained. King Kojey was here.
It would be wrong of me not to add some images of the legend, Ghostface Killah, so….
