[Stream X Review] Jorja Smith – Project 11 EP

There has been a recent insurgent of young talented British musicians especially when it came to singer songwriters, one of which saw the whole world take in so well and instantly became a fan favourite, Walsall native Jorja Smith. The 19-year-old soulful singer has decided to give  released a 5 track EP Titled Project 11.

In a recent interview Jorja mentioned that ‘singing has been part of her life since the tender age of 8′, not only does Jorja sing but she also writes music, giving her the edge and making her stand out amongst the ones that can just hold a note. To peruse her music career and develop, Jorja chose to move away from Walsall and is now located in London, where dreams can come true if you work hard for it!

At only 19 she has her first Mobo Nomination and been shown loves from so many fellow artist both great and on the rise and now released her Debut EP, an eclectic and amazing body of work, the 5 track EP include songs Something In The Way, So Lonely, Carry Me Home (Interlude) featuring Thea Gajic, Carry Me Home featuring Maverick Sabre and Imperfect Circle.

Project 11 is extremely breath-taking, lyrically Jorja Smith shows intense depth and maturity within her story telling, lyrical content, her descriptions and the metaphors she uses. Her voice is mesmerising, sung beautifully over sensual beats, with the sounds of the piano whilst she sings distinctively acoustically on top of soothing yet slightly soulful pop beats.

Carry Me Home featuring the Irish crooner and talent Maverick Sabre, who she previously collaborated with on the song A Prince earlier this year. Carry Me Home is a beautiful song, both singers have amazing vocals which complement each other with extreme ease as they harmonise and graceful sing together with absolute class. The song is emotive, thought provoking and a great listen.

Project 11 is a great showcase of what Jorja Smith has on offer as a talent with an amazing future ahead, a beautiful soulful voice, songs with meaning that will challenge your thought process, her sultry classy sense of style and beauty, equally her songs give you a great sense of comfort whilst you listen to it.
